Sanoach ( Hebrew זָנוֹחַ Zanoah , English Zanoah ) is an Israeli moshav in the regional administration Mateh Yehuda in Jerusalem District . The place is located near the city of Bet Shemesh and has 506 inhabitants (as of 2018).

history

The moshav was founded in 1950 by Jewish Yemenis who were flown to Israel in 1949 and 1950 under the code name Operation magic carpet . The settlement was named after the biblical city of Sanoach ( Josua 15.34  EU ) ( Josua 15.56  EU ) ( Nehemia 3.13  EU ) ( Nehemia 11.30  EU ), the ruins of which are on a hill in the south of the moshav.
