Dmitri Andrejewitsch Kulagin ( Russian Дми́трий Андре́евич Кула́гин , born July 1, 1992 in Moscow , Russia ) is a Russian basketball player . The 1.97 m tall Shooting Guard has been playing for PBK ZSKA Moscow in VTB-UL since 2015 . He has been part of the Russian national team since the 2013 European Championship .

Club career

Kulagin learned to play basketball in the youth of CSKA Moscow . He signed his first contract with the professionals with BK Nizhny Novgorod in the Russian Superliga B. With Novgorod he rose to the Superliga A in the 2009/10 season . The next year Kulagin reached the final of the Russian Cup with his team and was named the best playmaker there. For the 2011/12 season Kulagin moved to Triumph Lyubertsy . With triumph he reached third place at the Eurochallenge 2012. After that he moved to Krasnye Krylja Samara . With Samara he won the Eurochallenge and the Russian Cup in 2013 and returned to Lyubertsy after just one season. With triumph he reached the final of the Eurochallenge in 2014. In the summer of 2014 he moved with Triumph to St. Petersburg to the newly formed BK Zenit St. Petersburg . At the end of the 2013/14 season, Kulagin and Edgaras Ulanovas were named Best Young Player in the VTB-UL .

National team

Dmitri Kulagin was appointed to all Russian junior national teams. The most successful for him was the U-18 European Championship 2010, when he won the silver medal with Russia and was voted the best playmaker of the tournament. At the U-19 European Championship 2011 he came in third place with Russia.
After winning the gold medals at the Universiade with the student national team in 2013, he was appointed to the national team and took part in the 2013 European Basketball Championship .
