Dmytro "DIMAGA" Filipchuk (born June 3, 1986 ) is a professional Ukrainian e-athlete in the computer game StarCraft II . The nickname DIMAGA is a Ukrainian slang form of his given name Dmytro.
Career
Dmytro Filipchuk drew attention to himself for the first time in Starcraft: Broodwar by reaching first place in the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2008 Qualifier and thus representing Ukraine in Starcraft at the WCG 2008. However, DIMAGA did not get beyond the group stage at this WCG in Cologne . At that time he was still a member of RoX.KIS .
Especially in the beta phase of Starcraft 2, Dmytro Filipchuk was able to stand out with a particularly unique zerg style. So he was invited to Day9's King of the Beta tournament, where he couldn't survive the group phase either. DIMAGA joined the mTw team to launch StarCraft 2 .
A highlight in DIMAGA's career was definitely the participation in the GSL World Championship 2011 in South Korea, where he was able to defeat July and Mvp first . Later, DIMAGA was the NesTea's first zerg player in a publicly broadcast zerg vs. Zerg Match.
DIMAGA's first big win was at the Assembly Summer 2011, where he won 8,000 euros in prize money. This was followed by victories in many smaller tournaments with prize money between $ 200 and $ 1000.
In 2012, DIMAGA attracted attention several times. In the IEM Season VI - Global Challenge Kiev he was able to take second place with prize money of 3,300 US dollars. At the 2012 DreamHack Summer, he was also able to achieve second place and thus collect prize money of almost 6,000 euros.
In early 2015, he announced the end of his career as a professional StarCraft player. Over the course of his career, he has won more than $ 60,000 in prize money.
Play style
DIMAGA was best known for its use of Banelingen, which he already used in the beta for very aggressive attacks. After the release of StarCraft II , DIMAGA was also known for a very macro-heavy style.
In the first half of 2012 his baneling style became very popular again, especially against Protoss in connection with Overlord drops.
