Sean "Day [9]" Plott (born June 27, 1986 in Leawood , Kansas ) is a former professional StarCraft: Brood War player and is now a StarCraft II commentator. He became known to a larger audience through his success in e-sports tournaments and his English-language web show "The Day [9] Daily". In parallel, he was a commentator at international Starcraft events, including BlizzCon , Major League Gaming Pro Circuit, DreamHack, and Team Liquid Star League.
Career
Sean Plott grew up in Leawood, Kansas, where he played StarCraft: Brood War professionally with his brother .
In 2004, 2005 and 2006 he won the US qualifiers for the World Cyber Games , followed by a victory in the Panamerican tournament in 2007. In addition to his successes as a player, he also made a name for himself as a commentator on major esports - Events where he annotates StarCraft games live. Among other things, he and his brother Nick “Tasteless” Plott commented on the StarCraft II Invitational tournament as part of Blizzcon 2010. He was voted Player of the Year 2010 by PC Gamer UK magazine and won the 2011 Shorty Awards in the “ Gaming ”took second place.
He holds a degree in mathematics from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont , California and a Masters of Fine Arts in Interactive Media from the University of Southern California . As part of his show, Plott announced on May 11, 2011 that after completing his studies, he would concentrate exclusively on Starcraft II. He left open a renewed career as a professional player. On May 31, 2011, during the “State of the Game” podcast , he declared his intention to stream his own games as soon as they reached an acceptable level.
He currently resides in Los Angeles , California . He repeatedly cites his family as the key to his success, especially his mother and brother. In December 2011 Forbes magazine named him in the list of the 30 most successful people in entertainment under 30.

Day [9] Daily
Originally, Plott called "The Day [9] Daily" in 2009 to produce high-quality StarCraft: -Brood War games under the motto "Where we learn to be a better gamer" ("Where we learn to be better gamer") analyze. He felt that there was a sufficient market for esports in general, and StarCraft in particular. The webshow is described by Plott himself as a "crazy mix of strategy, analysis, humor and life tips".
With the release of the StarCraft II beta version, Plott shifted the focus to this game. In the following years the show established itself as an entertaining webcast in which Plott analyzes recordings of games and explains StarCraft II to its viewers using examples. The recorded programs reached several 100,000 views.
Between April 2010 and December 2014, 638 episodes of the show were produced with content exclusively related to Starcraft II.
