Doçal de Refóios

Doçal de Refóios is a red wine that is widespread in northern Portugal and is approved in the regions of Monção , Braga and Lima in the Minho . It is used as an ingredient in Vinho Verde and for simple table wines .

The high-yielding, late-ripening variety produces ruby ​​to garnet red wines of moderate quality.

There are also the Doçal and Doçal Graudo varieties .

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is very woolly, whitish-haired and has a strong carmine-red tinge. The young leaves, which are already blistered, are hairy with white wool and spotted bronze ( anthocyanin spots ).
  • The large, light green leaves (see also the leaf shape article ) are five-lobed and deeply indented. The stem bay is closed in a V-shape with overlapping ends. The blade is bluntly serrated. The convex teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties. The leaf surface (also called blade) is blistered and rough.
  • The cone-shaped grape is large and moderately dense. The elliptical, short berries are medium to large in size and azure blue in color. The skin of the juicy berry is moderately thick.
