Jermaine Jackson didn't release as many successful songs as his siblings Michael and Janet Jackson . Even so, he is the third most successful singer in the Jackson family.
In the ballad , the protagonist asks the person addressed to continue with certain pleasurable things that both have experienced in the past: "Why don't you do what you do / when you did what you did to me?"
The release took place on December 21, 1984 and was a number one hit in Belgium and occupied higher chart positions in the United States and Great Britain than the previous single When the Rain Begins to Fall .
Music video
The music video was directed by Bob Giraldi , who also directed When the Rain Begins to Fall . The video is an imitation of the film The Godfather . At the beginning of the clip, Jermaine Jackson's lover is kidnapped, then he sings the song while taking a walk. During the performance, scenes with Jackson and his lover are faded in. At the end of the clip he finds himself on a bench.
