Dobri Jurov
Dobri Dschurow (born January 5, 1916 in Vrabevo , Lovech Oblast , † June 17, 2002 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician .
Life
Jurov joined the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1938 . In June 1942 he joined the partisan movement and from 1943 was commander of the Chavdar partisan brigade . In 1942 his daughter, the future art historian Aksinija Džurova, was born. He was a member of the Central Committee from 1962 and of the Party's Politburo from 1977 .
Dschurow was Deputy Minister of Defense of Bulgaria from 1956 and then from 1962 to November 1990 . His successor in office was Jordan Mutaftschiew . Djurov shaped Bulgaria's defense policy for almost three decades. Dschurow was briefly in the transition phase in 1990 still Defense Minister of Bulgaria under Andrei Lukanow .
He wrote articles on military and political issues. Dobri Dschurow was awarded the Order of Lenin , the Order of Georgi Dimitrov and as a Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria .
