The Dodauer lake between Plön and Eutin is under nature conservation standing lake in Ostholstein near the village Dodau in Schleswig-Holstein . It is located in Holstein Switzerland and is surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape .

The Dodauer See has an elongated shape that runs from west to east and consists of two larger oval bodies of water. It has a length of about 750 meters, a maximum width of about 300 meters and a size of 20 hectares . The lake is the origin of the Schwartau river - in this it drains in the south via a pipe that crosses federal highway 76 .

At the beginning of the 19th century , the size of the lake was given as 10,000 square rods (around 28 hectares). The lake was later drained for grazing land. The lake was restored as part of the construction of the B 76 bypass around Eutin from the mid-1990s.
