EMT fan copter
The Fancopter is an airborne reconnaissance system from EMT , which was developed especially for use in urban environments and inside buildings. It consists of an unmanned aerial vehicle as a payload carrier and a ground station. With interchangeable reconnaissance sensors, the system has the capability of real - time video transmission for reconnaissance in flight or for stationary observation after landing. One person is required to operate.
Flight control
The flight control of the fancopter is done either autonomously by programming waypoints or by a pilot using a control unit with video monitor . He is supported by an autopilot which , after entering the control commands, takes over the position stabilization and the compensation of drift and wind influences with recourse to various sensor data . The aircraft takes off and lands automatically. The connection to the operator is established via radio or fiber optic cables.
Payloads
Thanks to its modular payload support, the fan copter can be used in all lighting conditions. The following sensors can be used:
- Daylight camera : swiveling miniature color video cameras with wide-angle and telephoto lenses
- high-resolution photo camera for aerial photo evaluation after the flight
- Twilight camera: Camera in the near infrared (IR) range with switchable IR lighting
- high resolution infrared video camera for use in the dark.
The video data is saved for later analysis and distribution. The video image is displayed in real time for flight control and real-time reconnaissance on the pilot's control unit and can either be displayed on an additional monitor or video glasses .
Other optional payloads include chemical and radioactivity sensors and microphones .
Users
The army of the German armed forces received two pre-production models in 2006 and 2007. 19 more drones were ordered.
Furthermore, in 2006 a copy of the fancopter was procured for the federal police .
