Jon Mesek

Jon Mesek (born February 12, 1982 in Radolfzell ) is a German singer / songwriter.

Mesek's music can best be described as a mixture of pop, folk and rock. He mentions artists like Bruce Springsteen , Travis Travis and Tom Petty as musical influences .

Musical career

Mesek founded his first band at the age of 11 and began playing concerts. He later received piano lessons from the South African pianist Surendran Reddy . At the age of 20 he began his studies at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts founded by Paul McCartney , where he was taught by Mark Pearman, one of the founders of the Sisters of Mercy and was in the same class as The Wombats . After returning to Germany, he moved to Munich and signed a record deal with Sony BMG at the end of 2006 .

In 2007 Mesek released his first single We're gonna live today , with which he was able to place in the Top 100 of the German Media Control Charts. In the same year he went on tour as the opening act for Paolo Nutini , Maria Mena , Ingo Pohlmann and Pete Murray, among others .

In 2008 Mesek released his debut album In My Head on Sony BMG under the RCA label and accompanied Celine Dion on her Taking Chances Tour in Germany and Austria.

His work is then supported by the Initiative Musik , among others .

The recordings for the second album "Marcy Avenue" take place in Brooklyn, New York. It is produced by Jean-Philip Grober, the founder of the New York band St. Lucia. The jazz trombonist Alan Ferber played as a guest musician . The album "Marcy Avenue" was released in June 2013.
