Dog - The Bounty Hunter is a reality television show that the stakes of Duane "Dog" Chapman , a bounty hunter in Hawaii show. Dog works with his wife Beth Smith-Chapman (1967–2019) and a business partner, sons Duane Lee and Leland Chapman , partner Tim "Youngblood" Chapman, and daughter Lyssa "Baby" Chapman. The show was discontinued in May 2012 by the broadcaster A&E, but it was continued in September 2012 by the broadcaster CMT under the new title Dog and Beth: On the Hunt . Until 2015, three seasons were broadcast on CMT.

background

Tim Chapman is incorrectly referred to as Dog's brother in the German translation, but in fact they just happened to have the same last name. In addition to Hawaii, the film was also shot in Dog Chapman's hometown of Denver and in San Francisco .

Production was halted for three months after Dog's son Tucker sold a tape to the National Enquirer on which Dog made racist comments about his son's black girlfriend in a heated discussion. On February 19, 2008, A&E announced that production of the show would resume. The reason for the decision was that Dog Chapman had publicly expressed his repentance and that the protagonist was also to be given the second chance, which is the basic principle of the show.

Dog the Bounty Hunter started due to the positive feedback as a spin-off of an episode of the series Take This Job (also broadcast on the A&E Network and produced by Hybrid Films) . The series is about people with unusual jobs, and in that episode it first introduced Chapman and his family at work.

The show was broadcast in Germany on RTL II . In addition to the daily work of the bounty hunters, the program also addresses the family life of the ex-convict and father of twelve children. Dog is portrayed as a compassionate person who is always keen to give the arrested convicts a new perspective and to give them a second chance.

The Chapmans' headquarters are the branches of their Da Kine Bail Bonds bond agency . These are located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu and in Denver, Colorado . The Kona office is run by Duane's son Leland Chapman.

Arrest of Dog

On September 14, 2006, Duane Chapman, his son Leland and his business partner Tim were arrested by US marshals at the request of the Mexican government. The arrest was based on a 2003 bounty hunt in Mexico that was illegal under local law. On June 18, 2003, the Chapman trio caught the rapist Andrew Luster, who had fled to Mexico . Duane, Leland and Tim were released on bail (300,000 US dollars for Duane and $ 100,000 for each of the other two).

On February 16, 2007, the Guadalajara Second District Court denied a motion for an injunction to prevent extradition.

End of series

In 2011, Leland and Duane Lee resigned from their father and stepmother's employment. In 2012, A&E stopped production after the eighth season.

This was preceded by death threats via e-mail against Dog's wife Beth and her three daughters, about which the FBI was also informed.
