Ano Doliana |
Doliana ( Greek Δολιανά ( n. Pl. )) Is a local community in the municipality of Voria Kynouria in the Greek region of Peloponnese . It consists of two separate areas in the east of Arcadia and a total of seven villages and settlements with 846 inhabitants, 595 of them in the largest village Kato Doliana (2011).
location
The area of the local community Doliana consists of two roughly equal areas around the villages of Ano Doliana and Kato Doliana in the north of the municipality of Voria Kynouria . These are separated from each other by parts of the local communities Agia Sofia, Eleochori, Agios Georgios, Platana and Stolos.
The area of the traditional mountain village Ano Doliana with the settlements of Kouvlis and Dragoumi borders the municipality of Tripoli . The village of Ano Doliana is located on the northern slopes of the Parnonas at an altitude of about 1000 m, to the south the terrain at the Doliana transmitter ( Κέντρο Εκπομπής Δολιανών ) rises to 1380 m. About 9 km to the east lies the area of Kato Doliana on the municipal border with Argos-Mycenae with the places Rouneika, Prosilia and Kaminari in the valley of the Tanos.
Administrative division
As early as 1835, a municipality Doliana ( Δήμος Δολιανών Dímos Dolianón ) was founded with its administrative headquarters in the town of the same name. Between 1841 and 1912 this was expanded to include other surrounding villages and was then downgraded to the rural municipality of Doliana ( Κοινότητα Δολιανών Kinótita Dolianón ). In doing so, it got its current size. With the recognition of the towns of Ano Doliana, Kato Doliana, Kaminari and Artsina in 1940, Ano Doliana became the administrative seat of the rural community. In 1955 Artsina was renamed Prosilia, in 1961 the Rouneika and Kouvlis residential areas were recognized, and in 1991 by Dragoumi. After the territorial reform in 1997 , the merger with the municipality of Astros and 24 other rural communities took place to form the municipality of Voria Kynouria , where Doliana initially formed a municipality and has had the status of a local community since the administrative reform in 2010 .
Population development of Doliana
The special geographic and climatic conditions mean that Kynouria traditionally has numerous double settlements. Many residents had houses in two villages, one for the winter in the valley and one for the summer in the mountains. Mountain settlements were completely or partially abandoned over the winter. The people of Doliana lived in Kato Doliana ('Lower Doliana') until St. George's Day and then moved with the icon of the patron saint for the summer to Ano Doliana ('Upper Doliana') until the chestnut harvest in November. This practice has gradually been abandoned, so that many Doliana residents live in Ano Doliana all year round.
For the first time in 1940, separate population figures were recorded for both villages and the surrounding settlements in the censuses. The 1940 census took place on October 16, 1951 it was carried out on April 7.
