Dolmen de la Fabière

The Dolmen de la Fabière is a dolmen north of La Cavalerie and north of a large quarry on the Causse du Larzac ( limestone plateau) in the Massif Central in the Aveyron department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The passage grave ( French dolmen à couloir ) with the capstone protruding on all sides, 4.40 m long and 3.20 m wide and weighing around 19 tons, lies in the remainder of an elongated burial mound , the edge of which consists of lower dry stone masonry . The chamber is 3.40 m long.

The dolmen has been protected as a monument historique since 1889 .

Nearby is the Jonquet dolmen . The dolmens in the Aveyron often occur in groups and 92% of all dolmens are made of limestone slabs .
