The Dolmen de la Pierre Levée is located in a field on the “Chemin du Dolmen” near the D 957 road, southeast of La Chapelle-Vendômoise , near Blois in the Loir-et-Cher department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The classic, almost closed dolmen, angevin. made of large limestone slabs marked the border between the counties of Vendôme and Blois until 1339 . The main chamber measures around 5.0 × 3.0 meters inside and is 1.3 meters high. It has two lateral bearing stones, a wide end stone and two wide cap stones. At the front end is the classic Angevin portal with two side stones and a divided entrance stone with a kind of soul hole .

The dolmen has been classified as a monument historique since 1889 .
