Dolmen la Pierre-Folle (Saint-Priest-la-Feuille)
The dolmen la Pierre Folle , in a park northeast of the hamlet of Saint-Priest-la-Feuille in the Creuse department in France , is a "simple dolmen". In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).
The slightly overhanging capstone has a flat bottom, but a strongly rounded, almost hemispherical top and was supported by six bearing stones. Five bearing stones are high and narrow, close together and inclined slightly inward. A stone has broken off. The polygonal chamber is about 3.0 m in diameter. The access is to the west, where there seem to be traces of a corridor with stones in the ground. The dolmen is similar to the polygonal dolmen of the funnel-beaker culture .
The dolmen is about 30 meters from the top of the nearby hill. The hilltop looks unnatural and could contain another dolmen. Nearby is the Chiroux dolmen .
There are several legends about the dolmen.
The Dolmen la Pierre Folle has been classified as a Monument historique since 1938 .
Nearby is the Menhir de la Rebeyrolle and the dolmen of Saint Hilaire .
