Pierre couverte

The approximately 8.0 m long and 4.5 m wide dolmen consists of six preserved, partly inwardly inclined supporting or side stones and two overlying sandstone ceiling slabs 0.6 m thick. A bearing stone, which has only been partially preserved, stands apart from the chamber.

The Sarthe has 28 dolmens and 46 menhirs, 14 of which are under protection. The Dolmen la Pierre Couverte has been classified as a Monument historique since 1889 .

About 700 m north ( Lage ), in the hamlet of Pierrefiche, there is the roughly 3.3 m high, 2.0 m wide and 0.5 m thick heavily scarred menhir de la Pierre Fiche with a natural hole. A menhir Pierrefiche also stands north of Simandre-sur-Suran in the north of the Ain department .
