Magès dolmen

The Dolmen of Magès (also called Pierre Levee de la Pannonie or Dolmen of Pannonie ) is located south of Rocamadour near Souillac in the Lot department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The dolmen of Magès is on the road from Pannonie to Rocamadour at the top of a ridge, between the valley of the Ouysse and a deep sinkhole . The Cloup de Magès, a large round depression, is about 100 meters away across the street. The dolmen with anteroom, which lies on the axis in the extension of the orthostats , is surrounded by a largely preserved tumulus and is covered by two cap stones (one slightly displaced).

The dolmen has been registered as a Monument historique since 1971 .

Other dolmens and the Grotte des Merveilles are nearby .
