Dolmen du Riholo

The Dolmen of Riholo (also called Dolmen de Ville Rio, Moulin-de-Gué or Le Haut-Langâtre) is a dolmen about three kilometers northwest of Herbignac in the Loire-Atlantique department . It is located north of the Loire on a small headland on the northern border of the largest marsh and lagoon landscape La Brière in France. In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The Riholo dolmen is of the same type as the Mousseaux and Joselière dolmens , which are part of a separate group of megalithic structures on either side of the Loire estuary . The floor plan shows two symmetrical areas to the left and right of the main axis. The largely destroyed complex lies down as a complex of several orthostats . The former stone mound or mound of earth has disappeared. The very long transept can be seen despite the destruction. The dolmen has been under protection since 1980. The dolmen on the edge of the Brière, date from the 4th millennium BC. Chr.
