The middle dolmen of Rondossec

The Three Dolmens of Rondossec ( French Trois dolmens dans le tumulus de Rondossec ) are located on Rue Hoche on the northern edge of the municipality of Plouharnel , near Carnac , in the Morbihan department , in Brittany . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The 20 m diameter, largely removed cairn was researched in 1849 by the "Society for the Development of the Gold Treasures of the Dolmen". Two gold chains of the Portuguese type from around 2000 BC were found. Found. The complex has been a monument historique since 1862 .

  • The west dolmen, from which the chamber stones are missing, is a small megalithic complex, which, wedged between the edge stones of the cairn and the central complex, was probably the last to be built. The original cairn consisted of the two other systems of roughly the same size.
  • The middle dolmen has a longer chamber, towards which the passage with a narrowed entrance widens like a bottle.
  • The east dolmen with a rectangular chamber, with a small side chamber, has an eleven meter long corridor.

Most of all ceiling tiles have been preserved. Some have rectangular notches and show splitting tests. The purchase of the property by the state prevented further destruction. In addition to the gold chains buried there in the Bronze Age , the monument provided the classic Neolithic grave goods: axes , flint stones and vases .

Nearby is the Cosquer dolmen .
