Dolores Fuller ; Born: Dolores Eble (born March 10, 1923 in South Bend , Indiana , † May 9, 2011 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American film actress and songwriter.

Life

Through her brief relationship with Ed Wood , the allegedly "worst director of all time", she appeared in some of his films, but was also seen in over 40 other productions. Fuller was actually intended for one of the main roles in the film The Revenge of the Strangler , but was then only seen in a short scene. Instead, Loretta King came into play, who allegedly offered the director several thousand US dollars for it.

The reason for the split from Wood is said to have been that she did not tolerate his passion for putting on women's clothes. Before she found out about Ed Wood's transvestism , she is said to have only wondered that her laundry was worn out. She waited for the film The Revenge of the Strangler to be finished and then finally separated from him.

Dolores Fuller later developed into a successful composer. She wrote many songs, including for Elvis Presley , Nat King Cole , Peggy Lee and Nelson Riddle . She was also the first woman in the United States to start her own record company .

Dolores Fuller died of natural causes on May 9, 2011 at the age of 88.

She was portrayed in the biopic Ed Wood by Sarah Jessica Parker .
