Domenico Bresolin
Domenico Bresolin (* 1813 in Padua , Italy ; † 1899 in Venice ) was an Italian painter and photographer .
Life
Bresolin was born the son of a bricklayer and began working as a house painter. In 1841 he enrolled at the Venetian Accademia di belle arti di Venezia . His teachers there included the architect F. Lazzari, the painters G. Bagnara and T. Orsi, and the sculptor Luigi Zandomeneghi. In 1864 he took over the professorship for landscape painting at the academy .
Bresolin's paintings are in private collections in Este and Padua as well as in the Galleria internazionale d'arte moderna in Ca 'Pesaro in Venice.
The negatives of Bresolin's photographs were bought by the Italian photographer Carlo Ponti . In 2014 the Neue Pinakothek in Munich bought almost 10,000 prints of Italian photographs from the early days of photography, the Dietmar Siegert Collection, which also includes prints of Bresolin's works.
