Domenico Morone

Domenico Morone (* around 1442 in Verona ; † around 1517 there ) was an Italian painter .

Life

Morone ran a painting school whose style was influenced by Andrea Mantegna . His earliest fresco in Verona was created in 1471. He painted the battle painting “The expulsion of the Buonacolsi” for Gianfrancesco II Gonzaga in the Ducal Palace of Mantua (1494). He created his later works together with his son and student Francesco Morone (around 1471–1529), who continued to work in the classically influenced style. Another well-known student was Girolamo dai Libri .
