Wilhelm Kos
Wilhelm Kos (born May 14, 1910 in Laibach ; † November 3, 1995 in Vienna ) was an SS-Obersturmbannführer and member of the Austrian National Council .
Life
As the son of the government building director and deputy mayor Karl Kos, he attended the secondary schools in Wels and Linz and obtained his Matura in 1929 . He then completed a law degree at the University of Graz . In 1929 he joined the Carniola Graz fraternity and the National Socialist German Student Union (NSDStB). As early as 1927 he was active in the Styrian Homeland Security .
In 1930 he joined the NSDAP ( member no. 360.580). The following year he became a member of the SS (No. 10,536). He was promoted to SS-Unterscharführer in 1932. Within the SS he rotated in various formations. At the beginning of 1933 he belonged to the SS standard "Germania" in Hamburg, was transferred to the SS special command of the SS staff guard in 1933. In 1934 he came to the Dachau concentration camp as a trainer for Austrian SS men . From 1935 to 1936 he trained SS sub-leader candidates in a training course. He graduated from the SS Junk School in Braunschweig Castle in 1936. In 1937 he was promoted to SS Untersturmführer.
At the SS Junker School in Bad Tölz , he attended a course in the field of administration in 1938, and then worked as a department head for economics at the SS replacement battalion “Germania”. The following year he was promoted to SS-Obersturmführer. The doctorate to Dr. jur. he reached 1939. He was appointed head of administration in the SS Regiment "Westland" in 1940, where he was also promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer.
From 1943 he was a member of SS tank units that were used on the fronts during World War II . From July 31, 1943 to October 30, 1943 he was employed in the economic battalion of the 12th SS Panzer Division "Hitler Youth" . He continued this service until June 6, 1944 in the Economic Battalion 12 of the same division. At times he also belonged to the Fegelein Combat Group and the 15th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (Latvian No. 1) . In 1944 he was appointed General Command of the XI. SS Army Corps, where he was employed as IVa coprintendante. In the meantime he had been promoted to SS-Obersturmbannführer.
After the war he was interned as a Nazi burden and went through the denazification program . He was able to work in business for several years, later he worked as a lawyer in Wels.
As a member of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) he was able to exercise a mandate in the National Council for constituency association III from June 9, 1959 to March 30, 1966.
