Domenico Petrucci (* in Civita Castellana ; † 1598 ) was an Italian clergyman and bishop .

Life

Petrucci obtained the degree of Doctor iuris utriusque and was in 1579 by Pope Gregory XIII. appointed inquisitor in Malta. The Grand Master of the Order of Malta, Jean de la Cassière , interfered in Petrucci's area of ​​responsibility, and the differences of opinion led Petrucci to seek help from the Roman Curia . The inquisitor was falsely accused of plotting an attempt to kill the Grand Master. He left the Maltese islands in September 1580 when the reenactments were too much for him .

Pope Gregory XIII appointed him on April 27, 1582 Bishop of Strongoli . He was ordained bishop on June 17, 1582 in Rome by Cardinal Giulio Antonio Santorio ; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Alife , Giovanni Battista Santorio , and Augustin Kvinti (Quinzio) OP , Bishop of Korčula . On July 23, 1584 he was transferred to the episcopal see of Bisignano . He died around 1598.
