The album's first single was the song To Be a Lover , which reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 . In Germany and Great Britain it came in 28th and 22nd respectively.

Billy Idol had written Don't Need a Gun by himself and at the time of the record was also convinced that he should be the only songwriter for the album anyway :

From Do not Need a Gun two were remixes made and maxi-single released: The Melt Down Mix was Billy Idol, Steve Stevens made and Freddy Bastone, who later published Beyond Melt Down Mix was the responsibility of the US producer Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero. This maxi single also contained a dub mix of the song as the b-side , while the other was an a cappella version of the song.
