Eyes Without a Face (English for. " Eyes Without a Face ") is a song by British rock musician Billy Idol in 1984.

Origin and content

The song was written by Idol and Steve Stevens and produced by Keith Forsey . It is largely a slow synth-pop song with strong New Wave influences, but towards the end it contains a rock guitar by Stevens.

The piece was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York City . The drums were produced with an LM-1 drum computer , the bass parts were played by Steve Webster. The background vocals are from Perri Lister.

Music video

David Mallet directed the music video and the video clip was nominated for Best Editing and Best Cinematography at the MTV Video Music Awards .

Publication and reception

The song was released in April 1984 as the second single from the Rebel Yell album. In the US , it became Idol's first top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 at number four . In Germany the song reached the top ten.

On December 8, 1984, Billy Idol performed the song in front of an international audience on Thommy's Pop Show on ZDF .
