Don Simpson

Donald Clarence Simpson (born October 29, 1943 in Seattle , Washington , † January 19, 1996 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film producer. He became known through hits like Flashdance , Beverly Hills Cop , Top Gun , Bad Boys and The Rock . In 1985 and 1988, he and his partner Jerry Bruckheimer were named Producer of the Year by the National Association of Theater Owners .

Simpson was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Anchorage , Alaska . He attended the University of Oregon where he became a member of the Phi Delta Theta Association .

Simpsons was active as a film producer since 1983, before he was involved as a screenwriter on Cannonball (1976).

Simpson's unusual life has been described by a variety of sources. A chapter in the book You'll Never Make Love In This Town Again , which reports on four prostitutes and their experiences with Hollywood stars, describes his preferences for SM and recording them on video. He is also believed to have had some plastic surgeries and a collagen injection into his penis. The magazine People also reported after his death that he was a fan of snuff films to have been.

Simpson was found dead in his bathroom in his Los Angeles home . The cause of death was myocardial infarction . Various websites report that he had over 20 different drugs in his body at the time of his death, including various psychological drugs. His drug addiction reportedly swallowed up $ 60,000 a month at the time of his death. His job as executive producer at Paramount Studios ended when he allegedly collapsed and passed out in the middle of a meeting.

The film The Rock (1996) was produced in memory of Simpson and is dedicated to him.

Simpson's body was cremated and the ashes passed to his family members.
