Donald P. Kommers

Donald P. Kommers (born August 26, 1932 in Green Bay ; † December 21, 2018 ) was an American political scientist .

Life

He holds an AB from the Catholic University of America (Philosophy and English Literature), an AM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Master's thesis: The Catlin Act and Political Spending in Wisconsin ) and a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Public Law and Political Science, Doctoral Thesis: The Development and Reorganization of the Wisconsin Judicial System ). He was Joseph and Elizabeth Robbie Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame and Professor of Law at Notre Dame Law School. Kommers received an honorary doctorate from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in 1998 and the Federal Cross of Merit in 2010 .
