Donat Pfeiffer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Donat Pfeiffer , also Donatus Pfeif (f) er and Pfeyffer , (* around 1500 in Priebus , Silesia, † 1562 in Leschwitz near Görlitz ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Donat Pfeiffer completed his bachelor's degree in Frankfurt / Oder in 1519 . After studying at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt , Donatus Pfeiffer was first preacher in Görlitz and at Easter 1530 preacher in Kamenz . However, he had to leave the city of Kamenz because he got married in 1534. This made him the first married evangelical preacher in Kamenz.

The abbess of the Marienstern monastery , the pleban and the town clerk of Kamenz influenced Bishop Johann von Meißen , who therefore forced him to resign. As can be seen from the historical records, after his dismissal in Kamenz, Pfeiffer appeared simultaneously as a preacher in various churches in the following years. For the years 1535 to 1538 Pfeiffer was led as a pastor in the parish of Markersdorf .

In the Silesian town of Goldberg he preached as a Protestant pastor until 1536. From 1535 to 1538 he gave Protestant sermons in the church in Königsbrück . From 1536 Pfeiffer was also listed as the first Protestant pastor in Ebersbach near Görlitz, from where he was appointed sub-deacon of the Görlitz Nikolai parish church on November 30, 1549 . Donatus Pfeiffer became a pastor south of Görlitz's old town in Leschwitz in 1555. He died here in 1562.
