Johann VII von Schleinitz
Johann VII von Schleinitz (* around 1470; † October 13, 1537 in Stolpen ) was Bishop of Meissen from 1518 to 1537.
Johann came from the von Schleinitz family in the Ragewitz branch. His father was the ducal Saxon councilor Georg von Schleinitz, his mother Maria, née Maltitz . From 1499 he was cathedral choirmaster of Meißen and canon of Naumburg. As Johann VII. He was elected Bishop of Meissen in 1518. He was a bitter opponent of Martin Luther and, together with Duke Georg, had Prediger persecuted.
In Meissen Cathedral located his grave plate and his epitaph is handed down as a drawing to 1750th His grave slab is a sandstone slab with metal fittings, the central motif is the episcopal coat of arms as a crossing with the diocese and family coat of arms alternating.
