Donata Baroness Schenck zu Schweinsberg , née Freiin von Dörnberg , (born March 10, 1951 in Oberaula ) was Vice President of the German Red Cross from 2006 to 2018 .

Life

After graduating as a state-certified social pedagogue in 1972, Donata Freifrau Schenck zu Schweinsberg completed practical training in the home for young people with environmental disabilities in Sankt Elisabeth in Marburg , where she worked as a carer.

Since her youth, Donata von Schenck has been involved in various voluntary activities, especially in the social field. In the 1970s she was the youth leader in a Protestant church in Wuppertal , and for over 15 years she was actively involved in the care of prisoners as well as drug-addicted and mentally ill young people.

Donata von Schenck has been volunteering for the German Red Cross since 1979, initially in hospital service in the DRK district association in Wuppertal, as a representative of the district association in the Wuppertal welfare committee, later for ten years as deputy chairwoman and since 2000 as chairwoman of the district association.

In November 2006 Donata von Schenck became Vice President of the German Red Cross e. V. and held this office until June 2018. She has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mothers' Recovery Association for the DRK since 2007 , she represents the DRK in the general assembly and in the Presidium of the Federal Association of Independent Welfare Care (BAGFW), was Vice President of the BAGFW in 2007/2008 and 2011 and from January 2009 to March 2011 in the framework the regular lead management of the DRK President of the BAGFW. Donata von Schenck has also been a member of the main committee and presidium of the German Association since 2007 . She is Deputy Chairwoman of the Advisory Board of the Digital Opportunities Foundation. From 2010 to 2013 she represented the BAGFW at the Round Table on Child Sexual Abuse in Dependency and Power Relationships in private and public institutions and in the family sector and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Commissioners for Migration, Refugees and Integration from 2011 to 2014 .

She is married with the main right Freiherr Schenck zu Schweinsberg and has three children.
