Donato Coco

Donato Coco (* 1956 in Foggia ) is an Italian automobile designer . Since January 2010 he has been Design Director at Lotus , leading the activities of Lotus Cars and Lotus Engineering. Coco reports to the Lotus design chief Russel Carr .

Donato Coco studied architecture in Besançon , France , before joining the Master -degree in automotive design (Vehicle Design) at the Royal College of Art in London gained. During his time at the Royal College of Art in 1983 he received first prize in a design competition from the then ruling Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher . Shortly afterwards he became chief designer for compact cars at Citroën . There he directed the design of the Xsara Picasso , C2 , C3 , and C4 . On November 8, 2005, he moved to Ferrari to succeed Frank Stephenson . There he designed the models F430 Scuderia and F430 Spider , California , 599XX and 458 Italia . He left Ferrari, where Flavio Manzoni was appointed his successor in September 2009 .
