Flavio Manzoni (born January 7, 1965 in Nuoro , Sardinia ) is an Italian architect and designer of supercars and street cars who has worked at Ferrari , Lancia , Volkswagen and SEAT .

Career

Manzoni studied architecture at the University of Florence and specialized in industrial design . In 1993 he joined the Centro Stile Lancia , three years later he was made responsible for the interior design of the car brand. He worked on projects such as the interiors of the Lancia Dialogo and the Maserati 3200 GT . In 1999 he moved to Barcelona to become Head of Interior Design at SEAT and work on the interiors of the SEAT Altea , SEAT Leon and the SEAT Salsa and SEAT Tango concept cars .

In 2001 Manzoni returned to Lancia and was appointed Head of Design. He took over responsibility for the concept vehicles Lancia Granturismo, Lancia Granturismo Stilnovo and Lancia Fulvia Coupè Concept and achieved great success at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003. The production vehicles Lancia Ypsilon and Lancia Musa won the "European Automotive Design Award" in 2003.

In 2004 he was appointed Design Director of Fiat , Lancia and Fiat LCV and began working with the Fiat Grande Punto , the new Fiat 500 and the Fiat Fiorino / Qubo .

In 2006 there was a return to the VW Group, Manzoni became Head of Creative Design at Volkswagen , where he designed the Volkswagen Golf 6 and defined the new version of Skoda , Bentley and Bugatti . Flavio Manzoni created the concepts of the VW Up! , Space Up !, Space Up! Blue, e-Up! and VW BlueSport roadster. Among the series vehicles, he designed the latest generation of VW vehicles together with Walter de Silva .

In January 2010 Manzoni was appointed Senior Vice President of Design at Ferrari with the task of reinventing the identity of the Italian brand. As design director, he led the Style Center to develop the concept of the Ferrari FF and LaFerrari and presented the Ferrari SA Aperta sports car at the Paris Motor Show and the F12 Berlinetta at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 . In 2011, Flavio Manzoni was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Automotive Design at the National Automobile Museum in Turin , Italy.

In May 2014 he received the Compasso d'Oro for his design of the F12berlinetta. In December 2014, the FXX K was presented as the most powerful Ferrari ever built at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi . Even if it is partly based on the first hybrid car ever produced in Maranello, LaFerrari, the FXX K is a completely new vehicle.

In March 2015, under his leadership of the Ferrari Style Center, three Ferraris won the Red Dot Award , namely the FXX K, the California T and LaFerrari.

In 2016 he won the Red Dot "Best of the Best" award for the product design of the Ferrari 488 .
