The Danube bridge Pfaffenstein is a 539 m long motorway bridge in Regensburg . The structure spans the Danube between the Regensburg-West and Regensburg-Pfaffenstein junctions of the A93 federal motorway and the European Canal and the 8 federal highway on the left bank of the Danube . The bridge was built between 1963 and 1967.

traffic

The motorway bridge has four lanes, south of the Regensburg-Pfaffenstein junction there is an additional interlacing lane for each direction of travel. The approaches and exits are connected to the Danube bridge by ramp bridges. The Pfaffenstein tunnel connects to the bridge in the north . In 2004, the motorway overpass had a traffic load of 92,200 vehicles per day, 22% of which was domestic traffic. A renovation and partial renewal was carried out in 2006 for around 6 million euros. The eastern superstructure was equipped with a merging strip in and out, and the bridge was given a partially transparent noise protection wall along its entire length . An upgrade using external pre-tensioning was completed in 2008.

superstructure

The prestressed concrete bridge has seven spans with spans of 65 m - 80 m - 95 m - 88 m - 86 m - 78 m - 47 m. The two superstructures have a continuous beam with a constant construction height as a building system in the longitudinal direction . In the transverse direction there is a two-bar T- beam as a structural system. In the pier areas and transition areas to the ramps, the T-beams are connected to a floor slab due to the high pressure forces. The vertical bars have a flange at the bottom in the field area.
