useful information

  • In 1964, filming for the first season began in Austria, more precisely in Krems and Vienna . On October 7, 1965, Danube Stories started with the episode WM and the Angel after 7 p.m. on WWF , in the regional program of ARD. By July 14, 1966, all 13 episodes were broadcast with success.
  • The crime series was so well received by television viewers that a second season was shot in 1967, which was also broadcast on the regional ARD program between 1968 and 1969, and in which the actor Theo Lingen also took part.
  • After Danube stories disappeared from the scene for decades and threatened to disappear forever because the production company was about to dispose of them, the Pidax company managed to save and restore them at the last moment. In 2011 Pidax released the series on DVD.
  • Willy Millowitsch didn't like the name Egon Huberding, which was intended as the name of the bank director, at all, and so he changed it to Willi Müller in agreement with the creators of the series . The abbreviation WM, which appears in every episode of the series together with the subsequent titles of the first season, has the same initials as those of the popular actor Willy Millowitsch for a reason.
