Dong Fangxiao ( Chinese  董芳霄 , Pinyin Dǒng Fāngxiāo ; born January 23, 1986 ) is a Chinese gymnast .

Dong took part in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and won with the Chinese team the bronze medal in the team all-around women , but this was her again in April 2010 revoked .

On February 26, 2010, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced after 16 months of research that Dong was only 14 years old at the time. She had previously given January 20, 1983 as her date of birth in order to be able to demonstrate the required minimum age for gymnasts at the Olympic Games (16 years). The dizziness was exposed when Dong applied for a technical assistant at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing on her actual date of birth. In December 2009, in the course of the investigation, the athlete was also heard in Lausanne , the headquarters of FIG.

The World Gymnastics Federation demanded that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) withdraw the bronze medal. At the same time, the FIG imposed sanctions for the first time for falsifying the age and deleted Dong's results at the 1999 World Gymnastics Championships in Tianjin from the 1999/2000 World Cup season and the 2000 World Cup final in Glasgow .
