Dongfeng Honda Company is a Chinese joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Honda Motor Corporation .

description

The company was founded with a capital (Dongfeng 50:50 Honda) of US $ 98 million at the beginning of the summer of 2003 with headquarters in Wuhan City on an area of 50,000 m² and a workforce of 930 employees.

Production of the Honda CR-V started in spring 2005. However, initially only 30,000 units could be produced per year. With a US $ 340 million financial backing from Honda in the spring of 2006, Dongfeng Motor acquired better machinery and equipment. A production of 120,000 units / year (four times as much as before) was now feasible. Honda was also able to secure and make known its brand name for the first time in the People's Republic of China . Another joint venture subordinated to the Dongfeng Honda Automobile Company also helped to support this; Honda Automobile (China) and Guangqi Honda Automobile . A total of 240,000 vehicles with the Honda label are now built in the People's Republic of China every year.

In 2009 Dongfeng added to its Honda range and "missed" the Honda CR-V a facelift. Then there were the two notchback sedans Honda Civic and Honda Civic Hybrid . As a top model, the company also used the new Accord sister model, the Honda Spirior , which is intended to appeal to the upper class.
