Donna Allen
Donna Allen (* in Key West ) is an American R&B and pop singer who was particularly successful in the 1980s.
life and career
Donna Allen was born in Key West and raised in Tampa , where she was a cheerleader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . She was the singer of the groups Hi-Octane and Trama before embarking on a solo career. Her album Perfect Timing was released on Twenty One in 1986 , the singles Serious , Satisfied and Sweet Somebody entered the charts. Her next album, Heaven on Earth, followed in 1987 on Oceana , with the title track, Can We Talk? and Joy and Pain as chart entry.
In 1995 she sang the song Real, produced by Jon Secada and Emilio Estefan, for the soundtrack of the film The Specialist . After that, Allen only released a few records, but she stayed in the business as a background singer. It can be heard on CDs by Ricky Martin , Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Lopez , among others .
In 2013, Allen took part in the fifth season of the American version of The Voice . In the "Blind Audition" she sang You Are So Beautiful and got the approval of Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine , in whose team she was accepted. However, all were eliminated in the "Battle Round" against the eventual winner of the season, Tessanne Chin .
In 2015, Allen released a new gospel album , I'm Your Bride , self-distributed.
