Doppelmayer is an impact crater in the southwest of the front of the moon , on the southern edge of the Mare Humorum , north of the Lee crater (moon crater) and east of Palmieri .

The crater is flooded by the lavas des Mare , which has almost completely disappeared the north-eastern part. A central mountain rises from the inside, which is surrounded by concentric structures.

The groove system of Rimae Doppelmayer begins west of the crater, runs parallel to the edge of Mare Humorum up north northeast of Liebig F .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr .
