Dorf im Warndt is a district of the community Großrosseln in the Saarland regional association Saarbrücken and was designed by the Saarbrücken city building authority by Georg Laub and Hermann Stolpe under the direction of Walther Kruspe . Until the end of 1973, Dorf im Warndt was an independent municipality.

history

The place was built as a National Socialist model settlement at the end of the 1930s in the Warndt forest area bordering France . The building contract was given by the Reichsheimstättenamt , the groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 24, 1936. The plan was to build a suburban settlement for the neighboring city of Saarbrücken . In the so-called small settlement with part-time jobs (with gardens and areas for keeping small animals for self-sufficiency), however, mainly mining and steelworking families from the surrounding pits and the Völklinger Hütte were accommodated .

It got its name because it is a village in the Warndt or Warndt forest.

The Saarbergwerke created an additional factory settlement between 1962 and 1964 .

On April 1, 1964, the municipality of Dorf im Warndt was re-established by hiving off the municipalities of Großrosseln, Karlsbrunn and Ludweiler .

On 1 January 1974 took place in the course of the Saar district and administrative reform , the incorporation of Großrosseln.

The place has won several awards in the competitions “ Our village should become more beautiful ” and “The best small settlements”.
