The Berendshagen village church is a church belonging to the parish of Satow in the Rostock district . It belongs to the Rostock provost in the Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany ( Northern Church ).

history

The Berendshagen estate was owned by the von Bibow family in the 15th century . They kept it until 1618, after which the von der Luhe and a Kord von Bülow owned it. From 1720 it changed hands frequently. In 1573 a Jochim Lamprecht was appointed pastor by von Bibow. The landowners also exercised church patronage . In 1836 the owner Baron von Stenglin tried to hand it over to the sovereign, but it did not succeed. The church is said to have originated in the 15th century, there are also views that see the origin of the church in the 13th century.

The church fell into disrepair during the GDR era and services were not held for several decades. The wooden west tower with a lantern had to be demolished in 1974 because it was dilapidated. Schlie still reports of two bells in the tower (1834 and 1893), only one of them was present at the time of the demolition. The association Dorfkirchen in Not provided the necessary attention with a television documentary in the 1990s and donors and organizers were found who began a renovation in 1997. The renovation was supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and the German Foundation for Monument Protection . The masonry could be renovated, the roof structure renewed and the roof re-covered.

Furnishing

The baroque pulpit dates from 1702. It is a foundation of the von Meerheimb family , who ran Gut Gnemern (now part of Jürgenshagen ) until 1945, as did the altar from 1668. According to Schlie, the … altarpiece is built in with columns in the Baroque style Gothic triptych, a strange work ... It shows a mercy seat in the center . A true-to-original chandelier with real candles has also been added. The blueprint for this chandelier was taken from photos, as the original has been lost.
