history

The exact construction history is not yet known. The Dehio manual describes a medieval hall church very vaguely , while the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf assumes that the building was built between 1446 and 1495. In 1620 there was a fire in which the church was badly damaged. The church put the building in the years 1673-1706 repaired and built here and the church tower . A restoration took place in 1836.

Building description

The building was built from field stones and bricks that were plastered in the first half of the 18th century .

The choir is straight and has not moved in. The east wall is structured by three wide buttresses that are unevenly distributed on the facade . They were placed on the corners and in the southern third of the wall. Between the two pillars to the south is a large, pressed segment arch-shaped window.

This shape can also be found on three other windows, which were evenly distributed over the north wall of the nave . There are two of these windows on the south side, followed by a rectangular extension on the south-east side. It is integrated into the structure through a towing roof and can be entered from the south through a small arched gate. This is also the only access to the church. To the east of this is the third window on this facade side in the choir.

The west tower rests on the full width of the nave. In the lower area there are three large, round arch-shaped panels , above the boarded tower tower. It has a square floor plan and two small sound arcades on the north and south sides . This is followed by a pyramid roof with a tower ball and weather vane .

Furnishing

The pulpit , the Fuente and the prospectus of the organ date from the period between 1673 and 1706. To further church facilities include five Gothic carved figures. On the one hand , they show Mary , St. Elisabeth and a bishop and come from the second quarter of the 15th century. Two other figures also show Mary and a bishop. They originated in the second half of the 15th century. One painting shows the Lord's Supper and was believed to have served as a predella in an earlier time . It was probably made at the beginning of the 17th century. Another painting from the end of the 16th century shows the patroness Anna von Burgsdorff .

To the southwest of the church is a mulberry tree that was planted in 1790. It is a registered natural monument .
