The village church is located on the southwestern edge of the village and is surrounded by a cemetery . The new building area connects to the north on the outskirts and thus has a good connection to the church sites.
history
The place Cospeda was the aristocratic seat of the von Cossibode and was sold to the Cistercian monastery in Jena in 1359 , and thus also the church.
architecture
This Protestant parish church is a single-nave church building. In the east it has a rectangular end of the choir . The start of construction is proven in the 12th century. Remains of the Romanesque predecessor building are the vault of the choir triangle and the semicircular triumphal arch between the choir and nave. These components were included in the church building in 1699. Wall finds attest to this. The lower church tower above the choir dates from this time. Today it has a roof with a lantern .
Church interior
The nave and the choir have arched windows . Three-sided galleries fill the room. The ceiling is made of wooden beams and boards. The choir is vaulted with a spine . The vault and the altar date from the time it was built.
Furnishing
- The pulpit is from 1688.
- The bell dates from the 15th century.
