Closewitz village church
The Protestant village church Closewitz is in the district Closewitz of the city of Jena in Thuringia .

To the northwest of the central outskirts of Jena and at the beginning of the fertile arable plain near Weimar and Apolda is the village church on Dorfstrasse and in rural areas on Gottesacker .
history
The Closewitz branch church , a hall church with a slightly indented choir polygon , is dated to the 16th century. The Romanesque wall of a previous building in the north wall has been preserved. The choir has a two-storey cross vault . The triumphal arch separates the nave and the choir. He still has an original wall pillar.
Church fire
In 1818 the village church fell victim to a fire and was rebuilt in 1818–1820, as indicated by an inscription above the south door. The windows and doors as well as the mansard roof and the roof tower were created during this time. The roof tower was later dismantled.
Interior
There are two-storey three-sided galleries in the room . The nave has a wooden barrel. An organ is built in.
