Gertewitz village church

The clearly visible with arrow slits provided, Grade II listed , Protestant village church Gertewitz is in the municipality Gertewitz the oppurg in Saale-Orla in Thuringia .

history

The church has a gate secured by loopholes. Nothing has been handed down about their history from before 1820–1821. In 1820 the previous church was demolished and rebuilt with stones, which probably resembled today's. The baptismal font dates from 1855. A church key from the Romanesque period has been preserved.

After a lightning strike in 1845, the gallery was built. A damaged figure of Mary and the baby Jesus is probably a former miraculous image from the past of the house of God . The organ is as good as hidden in the hall of the house. It comes from Georg Christoph Hofmann from Neustadt an der Haid .

The bells were purchased from Rudolstadt in 1810 .
