The rectangular choir is the oldest part of the church and was built in the second half of the 13th century. The nave was built as a two-bay Gothic hall made of field stone and brick in the course of the 14th century, the square west tower around 1400. The wooden superstructure of the pointed-helmeted tower and the upper part of the choir end date from the 16th century. Extensive renovation measures, in which the surrounding walls made of field stones were restored, took place in 1771.

The nave and choir are made of stone blocks up to half their height, the upper part was made of brick. On the south side of the choir there is a vestibule with a round arched gate. A gate on the north side was walled up. To the right of the walled-up gate there is a white plastered, pointed arch-shaped recess on one of the buttresses. There is a four-lane arched window on the east side of the choir. The overlying Gable is by a zigzag fries divided over which there are four three-piece pointed arch panels. Above, a Latin cross is executed as a plaster panel, flanked by two two-lane pointed arch panels.

On the south side of the nave there is a walled, stepped portal and above it a pointed arch window. Further trim decorations can be seen on the west gable. The ogival west portal of the tower has three tiered walls. The church's two bells date from 1879.

The nave has a flat wooden beam ceiling. A squat, pointed triumphal arch separates the nave from the ribbed vault of the choir. In 1842 the equipment was completely renewed. The pulpit, organ and organ loft, the patronage stalls and a painting showing a blessing Christ all date from this period.

At the end of the 1980s, the roof and floors were renovated. The equipment from 1842 was removed to make room for the renovation. Only the organ loft remained. The pulpit and the candlesticks were donated by a local company. A large part of the wooden equipment was made and donated by the local master carpenter Ulrich Pens.

In the cemetery there are old grave slabs of Klaus and Anna von Köller (1559 and 1600) as well as Dorothea and Klaus von Köller (1613 and 1615).
