The Protestant village church Kleinwechsungen is in the district Kleinwechsungen in the town of Werther in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia .

history

As the church shows today, it was built in 1724 as a hall church with a rounded ceiling and windows covered with arches . The casting dates in the bell prove the existence of a previous church.

The new construction of the village church went slowly. During the renovation of the church in 1965, a copy of a complaint from the pastor to the authorities about the condition of the church was found.

At that time the church had a pulpit altar and galleries on the long sides of the nave . The still playable organ came from the workshop of the Knauf company in Bleicherode . The west tower formerly had three bells . The ones that exist today date from 1932 and 1966. Only remnants of the tower clock installed in 1912 are left.

The north side of the church was badly damaged in a bomb attack by the United States Air Force in 1945. Three anchors in the ceiling stabilize the church. The roof was sealed with the wood from the side chairs. In 1956 the winter church was set up in the anteroom of the tower . In 1965 the interior renovation of the church took place. The pulpit altar was removed and the galleries shortened. The altar area was completely redesigned by the Greiz sculptor Elly-Viola Nahmmacher . In 1974, damage to the tower was repaired, the floor was renewed in 1992 and maintenance work was carried out in 1994. The church was renovated in 2005 by members of the church association and the walls were whitewashed. The altar and lectern were sanded down and sealed.
