The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of Kraschwitz is located in the Kraschwitz district of the Nobitz community in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

history

The chapel-like village church was donated by the Pruzze brothers and built in 1380. In 1487 it belonged to St. Georgen Stift Altenburg , in 1540 it was a daughter church of Windischleuba and since 1882 it belongs to the parish of Nobitz.

architecture

It is a simple sacred building and has pointed arch windows . The small church stands in the middle of the district on a small hill.

In 1812 the church and parts of the village were significantly damaged by a major fire. The roof burned down. The two bells melted. But the solid vault was mostly saved. In the same year the construction took place and the church consecration could take place. In 1818 the new bells were bought. In 1837, after the rapid construction, the church had become so dilapidated that it had to be completely renovated. A narrow vestibule with a slightly protruding church tower was built on the west side, and an octagonal tabernacle with a helmet stands on its roof .

The extension made the church more spacious and brighter. In 1974 the roof was re-covered. In 1996 the outside renovation of the church was made with funds. The tower button was copied. The masonry was renewed and painted in color. The re-inauguration took place on August 18, 1996.
