The listed village church Löben is a Protestant church in Löben in the district of Wittenberg , Saxony-Anhalt .

history

The nave of the Marien and Georg Church , built around 1250, consists largely of lawn iron stone . Initially, the church was built as a three-aisled pillar basilica . The side aisles and part of the central nave were demolished around 1500. The half-timbered west tower with an octagonal tower attachment, lantern and tail hood was built around 1700.

description

The carved altar in the church and the baptismal font date from around 1400. In the center shrine of the altar, Mary with child is depicted surrounded by angels. On the inside of the wings there are Saints Dorothea and Saint George on the right, and Margarethe and Katharina on the left. The pulpit, which is still present today, dates from around 1500. A portrait of Martin Luther was donated to the church in 1679 by the then church chief from Meuselko . The church gallery was built in 1701.

The organ of the church was built in 1904 by the organ building firm Wilhelm Rühlmann under the opus 255.

Bells

In the years between 1485 and 1493 the church received today's central bell with the inscription: “MCCCCLXXXV. Got me --- “ . In 1556, Pastor Conrad Fuchs and Joachim von Roebel , captain of Schweinitz, donated the big bell with the inscription “O Lord, help that it succeed, That I sound in your praise July 4th, An. 1556 Joachim Roebel, captain zu Schweinitz, Conrad Fuchs, pastor, Sebastian Rothbarth ” , in the same year the third, small bell was donated by Conrad Fuchs and Matthes Müller. The inscription on it reads: “Soli Deo Gloria. On. 1556 Andreas Bacherer. Conrad Fuchs, pastor. Matthäus Müller. "

A Wilhelmus sacerdotes in Lovene is mentioned as one of the first pastors in Löben in 1290 . The last pastor before the Reformation was Arnoldus Italus . The church book, which was started on August 25, 1576 by Pastor Georg Funke, is still used today by historical researchers as a basis for research due to its seamless management.
