The Protestant village church Lindenberg is an originally late Romanesque, later Gothic converted field stone church in the Lindenberg district of Ahrensfelde in the Barnim district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the parish of Blumberg in the church district of Berlin North-East of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and can be visited after registration.

History and architecture

The church is a field stone hall with a retracted choir, apse and stately west transverse tower from the 1st half of the 13th century and was vaulted in the 15th century. The upper part of the tower, made of irregular masonry with a gable roof, probably dates from the 14th century. To the north of the choir is a late Gothic sacristy with a simple gable, which was restored inside from 1860 to 1864 and 1911 and 1983 to 1989. With the exception of the apse windows, all openings were enlarged in a pointed arch from 1860 to 1864 and two circular windows were broken into in the north; the high, narrow arched windows had already been clogged with the vaulting.

In the west the church is accessed through a triple stepped round arch portal; the south and north portals are walled up. On the top of the tower, which probably dates from the 14th century, corners, rectangular panels, sound openings and gable panels are made of brick. Inside, the space is structured by pointed choir and apse arches. Rich net vaults with pear ribs are drawn into the choir and nave, in the nave on six figurative consoles, in the choir on simple conical consoles and with painted keystones. The walls of the ship are reinforced by pointed arches, the arched opening to the tower is walled up except for a door.

In the apse dome there is a wall painting with Christ as judge of the world between angels and Mary and John from around 1450, exposed in 1916, in a late variant of the Soft Style under Bohemian influence (comparable to the figure composition in the Marienkirche Strausberg ). The ornamental painting (triumphal arch, window reveals, stalls) and the glazing of the south windows were created in 1911 in partly Baroque forms.

Furnishing

The wooden altarpiece from 1694 shows an acanthus cartouche in the blown triangular gable and short barriers; the picture of the Lord's Supper is framed by winding columns, and winged angel heads are arranged in the acanthus cheeks. A colored wooden pulpit from 1702 is carried by a figure of Peter, on the five-sided basket are figures of Christ and the Evangelists between twisted corner pillars. A finely crafted baptismal angel from around 1700 was restored in 1911 and converted into a kneeling figure. The wooden altar crucifix dates from the 16th century. Remains of stalls from the 17th century have been preserved.

The west gallery with painted parapet fields and raised middle and side parts dates from the 17th century and was renewed in 1911. The organ with a baroque front from 1911 with carved cheeks is a work by Wilhelm Müller from 1863 with ten stops on a manual and pedal and was restored in 2005 by Dieter Noeske . There are three carved figures from around 1470 on the south wall of the choir: Madonna, Maria Magdalena and a bishop; on the north wall of the choir is a carved figure of Anna herself from the end of the 15th century, all of which have been recast.

The liturgical vessels include a brass baptismal bowl from the 16th century, a chalice and a silver wafer box from 1807. A pair of pewter candlesticks dates from 1818. Three medieval bells date from the 14th to 16th centuries.
